"Edisto Island" is a homage to the deep, rich parts of Edisto Island, SC. It is a part of the Lowcountry that is flat and heavy laden with marshlands. The indigo plant has a strong connection to the past there, and this piece is a way to conserve and honor that connection.
Writing accompaniment to this piece: the warmth you brought my heart reminded me of sunny days in late July, the warm curve of your neck like a beach bonfire.
