Meet Kirsten Williams
Meet Kirsten Williams
Kirsten is a mixed media artist who finds endless inspiration in reimagining everyday moments. Her works are often abstract in nature, telling a story through saturation of color, layers and movement of paint. Each mark created is intentional, intuitive and unites with the rest of the piece to forever capture a moment in time. Kirsten’s creativity emerged early in life and never waned. Largely self-taught, she’s been painting for over 15 years. She currently works in her home studio in Northern Virginia. Read on for our quick fire interview with her!Â
What’s inspiring you right now?
The change of seasons is a huge inspiration for me throughout the year, but I've always felt a burst of creativity when Fall hits. Because I draw so much energy and inspiration from nature and color, this time of year always fuels my creative energy.
What is your favorite color combination?
Monochromatic color has been a reoccurring theme in my work, and I'm having a real love affair with tone on tone color at the moment.
What do you like to listen to while you paint?
Music gives me so much energy when I'm painting. My color choices will often be reflective of what I'm listening to, and I'll pull lyrics from songs when naming a piece.
If you weren't an artist, what would your dream job be?
I love art so if I wasn't an artist I'd love to work at a gallery and be around amazing talent every day.
Where is your happy place?
I lived in Hawaii for a couple years, so it will always have a special place in my heart. I also just love being at home and entertaining family and friends.
When you're not working/painting, what do you like to do?
I love to cook. My two daughters have started getting more excited to be in the kitchen so we'll often cook dinner together when they get home from school. I also love traveling and have a few amazing trips planned in the next year!
